Dendritic cells (DC) are a family of specialized antigen-presenting cells residing in various tissues. In their immature stage, DC has the ability to uptake/sample exogenous proteins and process them into peptides for packaging with MHC proteins. Upon maturation/activation, DC has an unrivalled capacity to present these antigenic peptide/MHC complex that initiate T cell activation.
